FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions/User accounts, registration
Who is my admin?
List of admins is at http://www.sh.cvut.cz/info/admins.html. Their deputies should have the same permissions as admin, this varies from block to block. List of deputies is generally on the doors of admin, server's room or on the bulletin board of the block.
Admin would like to know my network interface card number (MAC address), what is this number?
Every network inteface card (NIC) has its unique 12-digit hexadecimal number (MAC address). MAC should be registered by your admin in database, so that you can have exclusive access to your account.
MAC address could be found in Windows 9x issuing command winipcfg
, in Windows NT/2k/XP
ipconfig /all
and in Linux ifconfig
. Make sure, that in program winipcfg
is chosen the right network card, that you want to use for internet access (Phone adapter is NOT the
right). Your administrator needs number, referred as "Adapter's address", "Physical address" or "MAC address". Sometimes this number is printed on a sticker on network card. In case network
card has less number of digits, zeros from left should be completed.
